Recruited to the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka as State Counsel in February 1998, after being enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in December 1997. In the said capacity of a Law Officer of the State, represented in Court and advised numerous Government Departments and State Institutions in matters relating to Constitutional and Administrative Law, Commercial Law, Industrial Law and Land Law.

Has also examined draft legislation for its constitutionality prior to its presentation to Parliament as well as vetted bilateral and multilateral agreements involving the Government of Sri Lanka prior to their acceptance.

In September 2002, reverted to private practice, and has since then been engaged as a Counsel in litigation in the several courts of law, provision of legal advice and drafting of Agreements. Has appeared in several cases of national and public importance involving matters of civic liberties and fundamental rights.
